This song came out of frustration with the way this country is being torn apart and a desire to see us unified. Thinking back on the world I grew up in (last century).

To when it was safe to be naïve
& you could look each other in the eye & believe

It was a kinder world
Than the one my daughter’s growing up to see.
Kindness mattered; Integrity was key
We were more inclined to live & let be
But stakes are high now, I know we all agree
Scrappin’ for survival is ugly.

I wanna see my dad
I wanna see my homeland
And lay my head

To the land of my youth
When you could sail the world on a smile & a truth

Was a time when you knew
Any stranger would go that extra mile for you.
